Bellami Hair Extensions

I have been researching clip in hair extensions for months now. I really wanted a set, but didn't know what to get. At the very beginning, I was absolutely clueless about everything related to extensions; I had no idea what a weft was, or what Remy hair meant. All I knew is that I wanted longer and thicker hair. So, a few videos later, when I had a better idea of what I was looking for, I started searching for companies. I checked out Hello Gorgeous, Head Kandy, SKR, Foxylocks and Dolce Vita and Hair Secrets. I watched and read reviews for a loooong time before I thought I had made my choice. At that point, it was between SKR and Hair Secrets. I was really torn between the two. I changed my mind every day, basically going crazy over hair. So I let myself cool down for a couple of weeks and stopped thinking about extensions.

One day, my urge to have long luscious hair came back in force. I did some more research and found out about Bellami Hair through Youtuber MakeupbyMel (Mel Rose). Since I really like her and enjoy her videos a lot, I though it would be a good idea to check out the brand. So I went on their website and was really pleased with what I saw. The site is very user friendly and doesn't look tacky. This is a huge point when I shop online. I know I shouldn't do that, but when the website doesn't look good, I'm less likely to buy from the company.

Any way, back to Bellami. They are a Canadian based company located in Vancouver. They sell 100% Remy human hair (tip top quality real human hair basically) available in two sets. The first one is called the Bambina, and is the smaller one. This set it 160g of hair and the length of the hair is 20 inches. The second set is called the Bellissima, and is longer and thicker. It is 220g of hair and 22 inches long. I wasn't sure which set to get, or even what color would match me, so I emailed Nikki, the owner (who was an absolute doll, by the way). I sent her some pictures of me and asked her which color would be the best match. I also asked which length she would recommend. She emailed me back super quickly suggesting Dark Brown as a match and 22" as length.

 

I looked around for reviews on Bellami. All of them were positive. To this day, I haven't found a bad one. Everybody is super pleased with their extensions and love them. I didn't need anything more to convince me to purchase them. So I went for it. I know Nikki recommended the 22" and 220g Bellissima set to me, that's the one I wanted too, but it's more expensive and I don't have that much money. So I chose the 20" and 160g Bambina set. If I have more money later, I'll buy the fuller set like I initially intended to. The Bambina set is 149.99 $. The company has a 5$ flat rate shipping worldwide, but you can find 5$ coupon codes from girls all over the Internet and cancel out this shipping fee. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me! Like you needed more reasons to love Bellami! Shipping is super quick too. It takes 24h to 48h to process the order and then they ship it right away. Since I live in Canada, it takes 3 to 5 business days. In the US, they usually arrive within 5 to 15 business days.

Needless to say, I was majorly excited when they arrived! What's pretty neat is that it comes with a tester piece in the bottom pouch. Open that one before you open the big one. Make sure it matches your hair and is the color you wanted. If it doesn't satisfy you, you can send it back and exchange it (as long as the top part is still intact. If you open the main compartment, where all the hair is, you can't send it back. Hygiene reasons). And dark brown matches me per-fect-ly!

Here is all the hair you get. You get 10 wefts in total (2x 4 clip, 2x 3 clip, 2x 2 clip and 4x 1 clip). The hair comes fairly straight when you receive it.

When I got these extensions, I washed them right away, because I heard Bellami puts some sort of coating on the hair to make it look shiny and soft. The thing is that this coating will most likely ruin your heat tools (from what I've heard). Also, it might stain your clothes if your extensions get wet, because that coating is black (on dark hair, anyway). I didn't take any chances and washed them. Sure enough, the water got black as I was rinsing off the shampoo. So, word of advice, wash them as soon as you can. 

To wash my Bellamis, I used this handy dandy Sedal shampoo and conditionner that I got in Mexico. This is just the products I had at the moment. I'm sure anything gentle will do the trick.

After washing them, I put them on a towel to air dry. As they were drying, I noticed that they were getting very wavy, which made me even more excited about these.

So here's my verdict. GET YOURSELF A SET NOW! These are really good! I might not be an expert when it comes to hair extensions, but I can tell you that Bellami is an amazing brand and I'm glad I bought my first set from them. They are setting the bar very high for other companies, as far as I'm concerned. Had I had the money, I definitely would have gone with the bigger set, but the 160g is still amazing.
